BIO
Lola Rising is an Island Reggae band, also known as “Jahawaiian," a ukulele driven 6-piece with high energy dance rhythms, horns, and soaring guitars. Reminiscent of Dirty Heads, Iration and The Green, Lola Rising has been winning hearts and minds since their inception in 2014. Their debut LP "Westward Bound" (2016) with single “Colorado” saw heavy rotation across their home state and a multitude of college radio stations across the country. Inspired from a song, frontman Paul Medina Guevara once wrote about the passing of his "Lola" (meaning Grandmother in Filipino). Coupled with “Rising" the name evokes images of spirituality while embracing the human condition.

NEW ALBUM - MOVING FORWARD
The upcoming EP "Moving Forward" has helped Lola Rising cross new thresholds of creativity by introducing new genres and textures, while still finding roots in their original sound. Inspired from basements of haunted hotels in Wyoming to the beaches of California, this record discusses love, loss, struggle and protecting our Mother Earth by using their vivid lyrics and multi-part vocal harmonies.

“You’ve never heard of a band like this come out of Colorado. Promise. Lola Rising calls its sound “Jahawaiian” – an island folk rock. And while the pitch of a ukulele melody might seem to run counter to Colorado’s landlocked culture, it slides oddly well. Almost too well. With its infectious “Oh-whoa-whoas” and quick tempo lines, Lola Rising puts your winter-drenched mind at ease with a tropical wakeup call. Craft Mai Tais anyone?” - Rooster Magazine
"One of the bright artists to come out of Colorado. Their unique sound and way to takeover a crowd of any size is impressive. They make new fans everywhere and it's one of the many reasons I keep booking them on our select festivals." -Clay Busch - Festival Producer, CA
"Colorado based band Lola Rising combines several styles in their infectious and unique sound. With a Dance Hall Island Reggae Rock vibe they create very dance - able grooves. High energy, inspiring lyrics, beautiful harmonies and the obvious love and passion for humanity flows from the stage. The musicianship and the showmanship is not forced, it comes out naturally and gives the audience a big hug of spirituality and compassion. Go see this band!"- Backstage Flash

"These Coloradans dished out supremely like-able dance rock with a distinctive island flair, ukuleles and all. Simply put, from the opening island-infused notes of Colorado’s Lola Rising to the thunderous close of Twenty One Pilots, there was no let down on either stage." - RARAs - Farm's Rock Music Blog
